About Sharon Collins
With over 25 years of experience in teaching art workshops and crafting, I bring a wealth of knowledge and passion to my classes. I grew up in a creatively nurturing family – my mother, a visual artist, and my father a skilled Carpenter. I was encouraged to explore making things from a young age, and I made many messes in my father’s workshop drilling, hammering and grinding. I attended the San Francisco Art Institute and contributed to numerous community art projects.
Throughout my career I have played a pivotal role in establishing art programs in San Francisco public schools, training teachers to inspire the next generation of artists. My background also includes experience in fashion, costume, and set design.
My personal artwork delves into the intricate patterns of nature, magnification, and the exploration of diverse mediums. I thrive on the juxtaposition of meticulous detail and the unpredictability of mono prints. I constantly seek innovative ways to incorporate unusual materials into my creations.
Currently, I teach in-person art classes at the Sanchez Art Center in California. I’m passionate about gathering people and materials to explore the boundless opportunities of creative discovery. There’s a unique magic that unfolds when we co-create. Whether you’re dusting off art supplies that have been tucked away or newly venturing into your creative side, I warmly invite you to join me and embrace the possibilities!
