Workshop Title: Abstracting the Landscape

Workshop Description:

We all relate to the landscape because we live in it. Our feet are planted in a place in the landscape. In this workshop you’ll learn to see the landscape differently and then visually communicate it differently. You’ll learn to communicate the feeling of a scene or place rather than replicate the look of it. You’ll abstract the landscape, or remove from it the reality and replace it with your vision. Not what is, but what can be. You’ll find freedom in painting like never before: Loose and fresh and colorful!

Here is some of what we’ll cover:

  • You’ll do value studies and drawings outdoors

  • You’ll explore design compositions and design fundamentals

  • You’ll experiment with color and moods

  • You’ll experiment with new techniques and textures

  • You’ll develop your own unique vision of the landscape

  • And much more!

This workshop is non-media specific. All who utilize watercolor, acrylic, pastel and oil are welcome.
